ChoirShows: Bringing Voices Together During Lockdown

When the world came to a halt in 2020, creativity stepped up. The ChoirShow series was born from the simple but ambitious idea of connecting choirs virtually—not just with pre-recorded content but through live, interactive performances streamed straight to audiences at home. Over the course of three shows, we raised over £4,000 for charities, provided £2,000 in support to choirs, and attracted nearly 10,000 YouTube views in just six months.

A Vision Turned Reality

When Matthew Finch approached me with the idea for a virtual choir show, his goal was clear: to create a dynamic, live-streamed experience that united singers and audiences in real-time. Using tools like OBS Studio, Zoom, and VoiceMeeter Banana, we built a technical setup from scratch that allowed seamless transitions between live choir performances, video segments, and interactive features. Each stream was managed from my home studio, using a custom-built interface with an Elgato StreamDeck XL for smooth scene changes.

The Numbers Speak

  • ChoirShows 1-6 (2020-2021): Raised over £7,000 for charities and £2,300 for choirs.
  • Global Reach: Featured 25 choirs from England, Ireland, and Australia, with over 16,000 YouTube views and 4,000+ hours watched.
  • Choirthon: An 18-choir marathon raising over £5,000 for charity.

A Personal Highlight

The pre-show nerves, the live buzz, and the community spirit made these events truly special. From my bedroom studio to audiences around the globe, these shows proved that “anything is possible” with creativity and determination.

The ChoirShows embodied what I love most about my work: solving complex challenges, enabling others to shine, and using creativity to connect and inspire.
