Luke’s Lighting Design Wins The Rose Bowl Award For Technical Achievement

Luke is very pleased to announce that he won the Rose Bowl Award for Technical Achievement for his lighting design on the Wizard of Oz for Keynsham Light Opera Group, directed by Petra Schofield.

The citation was as follows:

The lighting was designed and executed by a young talent. It was consistently inventive and colourful. Psychedelic swirls were projected onto the gauze. Rainbows, snow, twisters were beautifully created using flares, silhouettes and mirror balls, strobes and a colourful cyclorama. Making this production of the Wizard of Oz magical.

Words from Petra Schofield (as read by Tracey English):

It is always my first choice to work with Luke, mainly because of the way he can unravel my mad ramblings and bring it to life. His commitment to any show he takes on is exceptional. He attends lots of rehearsals so that he is completely prepared for the tech weekend and the complex designs he created were installed with relative ease. Highlights for me was the lovely demise of the witch and the great special effects including a fire gun. Luke is an outstanding designer who is behind more than one nominated company here tonight. His contribution to the Wizard of Oz and KLOGs show week was utterly inspiring.

The award was announced at a ceremony on Sunday 18th October 2015.
